Californaey – south, out, about, around and back up
Renting a car for a few days! Good to have own wheels –
Got up godawfully early on new years day to go pick up the car. Empty streets in San Francisco; strewn with confetti, rubbish and a distinct air of stale beer and spirits. As it should be, after new years eve. The BART was having minor hiccups, so we had the privilege of hanging around the station for a while.
Stanford, Palm drive. Creatively.
We had brunch in Palo Alto. This area and silicon valley is nothing like I imagined.. (too long a story).
We found Google, it was practically deserted, and had a wee wander about.
This did not sit well with the security, and a friendly, shuffling guy in uniform asked us to please leave. He apologized profusely, but escorted us off the premises.
We snickered for the rest of the day. Trespassers…
Abandoned train, towards Salinas.
Spontaneous plan: catch the sunset on the coast, we hastened to the Bixby bridge.
sun sets on the cliffs
aaaawwwwww…
reflections in water, Monterey bay.
Popped into Monterey on the way back up for a bite (yuuuumm!) and some artyfarty camerawork.
Right now, we’re lounging on comfy beds in a motel in Alameda, out of Oakland. Tomorrow; redwoods, Berkley and back to Sonoma.
